FDA Approves 2 Biologic Medications
Not long ago, few patients were treated with a biologic. Today, biologics are widely used to treat psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Researchers continue to study these promising medications, and their research has led to the discovery and approval of two new biologics:

Golimumab (approved for psoriatic arthritis)

Ustekinumab (approved for psoriasis)

Follow-up appointments with a dermatologist are essential for patients with psoriasis. Between 5% and 42% of people who have psoriasis will develop psoriatic arthritis, which requires treatment to prevent a potentially disabling condition.
